Right across Highway 278 from Hilton Head Plantation, Indigo Run’s approximately 1,780 acres lie only two miles from the beaches. The most recently added Plantation to Hilton Head Island, it has been in development since the mid-90s.  Indigo Run is a private golf and residential neighborhood bordering Broad Creek’s marshes.  The plantation is named for the area’s once-primary crop, indigo.

Port Royal

The Port Royal Plantation community was the second plantation neighborhood developed on Hilton Head Island, after Sea Pines. Port Royal is the site of a few still-standing Civil War forts as well as the site of the 1663 landing of Captain William Hilton for whom the island is currently named after.  This single-family community opened in 1961 and got its name from the nearby Port Royal Sound.
