Andre Cilliers was born in Johannesburg, South Africa attended boarding school at Pretoria Boy's High School and then at Haileybury College in Hertfordshire England. While at Haileybury I captained the English Public Schools tennis team at Wimbledon. I returned to the University of Witwatersrand to study for a BA Law. While there I played tennis for the university and achieved a top 10 ranking in the country.
I then spent an obligatory 2 years in the SA Air force where I played rugby for the SAAF.
Began a career in advertising as a trainee copywriter, and then moved into radio, Film and TV Commercial film production, which brought me to Toronto in 1986.
In 1994 I came to Hilton Head Island on an extended vacation. After several weeks, my wife Rosie and I decided to make Hilton Head Island our home.
